About Our Partners

While artists-in-residence at the Neighbourhood Time Exchange | Downtown Prince George will use the residency to expand their studio-based artistic practices, they will also contribute their time to engage directly with local organizations who have proposed projects that will uniquely impact the community. The Neighbourhood Time Exchange | Downtown Prince George Community Partners are an integral component of the project, linking artists and residents together in support of making positive change in the neighbourhood.

During the 2016-2017 residency cycle, the artists will work directly in partnership with Downtown Prince George and a variety of participating organizations including Two Rivers Gallery, the Prince George Public Library, Innovation Central Society, and the Recycling and the Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS). Through these collaborations a number of community projects will be realized and directly contribute to the social, creative and economic well-being of Prince George’s downtown.

Our Community Partners:

Downtown Prince George

Downtown Prince George’s primary task is to develop partnerships and advocacy, focusing on three key areas: civic matters, business development, and improving safety through crime reduction. Additionally, Downtown Prince George has projects in place for the beautification of the downtown core, including: litter control, hanging baskets, façade improvement grants and graffiti mitigation. Ultimately, Downtown Prince George seeks to make downtown Prince George as safe and beautiful as possible in order to increase traffic and attract new business.

Two Rivers Gallery

Two Rivers Gallery is a vital centre for visual art in Prince George and the central interior of British Columbia, Canada. It is run by the nonprofit Prince George Regional Art Gallery Association with a mission to: encourage lifelong learning through the arts, create an environment for vigorous artistic and cultural expression, and to provide opportunities for diverse experiences through participation and exhibition.

Prince George Public Library

The Prince George Public Library connects people and ideas, inspiring the community to read, learn and discover. Our vision is to be at the heart of a community where everyone is welcome to explore and share.

Innovation Central Society

Innovation Central Society is an organization located in the Hubspace building, a destination where people and ideas come together to start, build and grow sustainable businesses. We have an open space environment with co-working desks available for technologists, freelancers, independent contractors, solopreneurs and multi-staffed start-ups.

Recycling and the Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS)

The Recycling and Environmental Action Planning Society (REAPS) was established in October of 1989 with the mandate of fostering environmental stewardship in the Regional District of Fraser Fort George. Our main focus is on waste reduction, in which we are assisting the Regional District towards its goal in reducing the amount of waste going into the Prince George landfill by 50% plus. REAPS offers various forms of community outreach and public awareness, including programs in schools, garden workshops, and other educational initiatives, where people can learn about composting, recycling, vermicomposting, organic gardening and many other environmental issues.
